Whimsical Wednesday Guest Designer :)

I am so excited that Stephanie over at Always Crafting has asked me to be a guest designer for this week's Whimsical Wednesday Challenge. Being so new to the blogging world her blog was one of the first I began following. Her work is truly amazing so go and check out all the wonderful and creative projects she has to share.!
This week she is calling it "I'm So Stressed Out!" I know we all have those kind of days....right?!?! For this challenge she wants any type of project but it has to include some distressing in it. This can include but is not limited to inking, tearing paper or whatever other kind of distressing technique you want to use. I have not tried any of these yet so I blog searched for ideas, googled distressing and everything came back to the ever famous Tim Holtz! Again I had not one item of his so off to Michael's I went (just an excuse to scrapbook shop) for some distressing ink. I came home with the ink as well as some paper stash in Retro Grunge. I knew I wanted to make something other than a card or layout and I had an Altoids container waiting to be altered so this is my "I'm So Stressed Out" project.
I used the paper and covered the front, back, sides and inside..distressing the edges with Vintage Photo, Frayed Burlap and Peeled Paint Distress ink. I also tore a piece of paper, crumpled it and then layed it flat and inked. We just recently got a new phone book and it wass sitting in our recycle bin..does anyone use a phone book anymore?!...I took out a page of the white pages and cut 3 flowers at 2" from the Pagoda Cartridge. I crumpled them up, inked the edges and used my hot glue gun to attach to the tin. The pewter tiles are Making Memories alphabet charm that I hot glued also and inked as well. The butterfly was a charm I had in my stash.

So now it is your turn! Head over to Always Crafting and show us how you can distress. I can't wait to see what you come up with! I think distressing is my new favorite :)! You will also want to stop and visit Margie at Bella Bug Creations for some more inspiration. She has an amazing blog as well!

Thanks for stopping by and I would LOVE it if you become a follower here at  Chick-n-scrap :)
Until tomorrow....

  1. Oh my, Jessica! First of all, I can't believe this is your first distressing project! Amazing! And I have to agree, Tim Holtz is the go-to guy when it comes to grunge and distressing! What a clever idea ripping pages from the phone book...I'm definitely lifting that idea. And I am now chomping away on my Altoids so I can salvage the empty tin! Steph and I were thrilled and honored to have you as our Guest Designer at Whimsical Wednesday. Your project is awesome!

  2. Jessica your project is amazing. I really just can't get over that you are brand new to the crafting world. I am so impressed that you jumped right in and started using Tim inks. They can be a little on the tricky side with the blending of colors and all. Great recycling with the phone book. You did an awesome job with this challenge. So glad you joined Margie and I this week.

    Hugs,
    Stephanie

  11. Jessica ,

Hi, This is better than great! What a fabulous project. Your use of the inks is right on target! And the recycled white pages, I am going to be right on that as soon as I can. What a way to never run out of flowers!! I hope you have enjoyed being the guest designer as much as I did. Stephanie and Margie are so sweet and great to work with.
