Just For Her.....{The Kraft Journal}

Good Morning and Happy Monday everyone!!!
It is time for a new challenge over at
This week's challenge is...

Just for Her
with mother's day just around the corner I wanted to share another card I made following this week's
Deconstructed Sketch 100
And here is my take on the sketch...
I started out with a Brown Kraft Cardstock base and used the designer papers from October Afternoon~ Modern Homemaker 8x8 paper pad. I wanted my card to have more of a distressed look so all the edges were inked using my Ink Blending Tool and Gathered Twigs distress ink. For my sentiment, I again used the Gathered twigs distress ink and Paper Smooches~ Sentiment Sampler set....I didn't have the "mom" stamp so I pieced letter from 2 of the other sentiments to stamp that. As you can also see I ran each of the pieces through my sewing machine just for alittle something more :)
Here is a close-up of the flower embellishment...... I started by laying down a layer of Red w/White Washi Tape and then using My Creative Time~ Flower Petal Dies cut out the largest and smallest flowers. For the middle flower I used Bazzill cream cardstock which is also the bases of all my pieces and the sentiment mat.
After the pieces were die cut, I inked the edges using my Ink Blending Tool and more Gathered Twigs distress ink. For the brad I used the 1/8th Inch Hole Punch and a Custom Fastener. To finish my flower off I added some felt die cut leaves and to complete my card I added 2 small Cream Twill Tape flags.
So there you have it....my inspiration for this week's challenge.
I hope you have enjoyed my card and will play along with us!
As always I have linked all the supplies I used from The Kraft Outlet below.  If you have not checked out the store yet....make sure you do! There is so much available, the prices are so reasonable and shipping is super fast!!!

A Jar Just for You~ The Cutting Cafe and A Winner!!

Good morning everyone!
This week the DT over at
are showcasing these adorable new files...
&
they are jam packed with tons of adorable images, sentiments and toppers to add to all these different jars!!
Here is what I came up with
My whole idea for this card was to go a little rustic :)
I cut the jar out using my cameo~ I <3 this machine
I re sized the cut file to A2 size...the card size I prefer to design with which in turn made the jar more squat which I also LOVE!!
I used the print and cut feature to color in my jar with this awesome printed paper from the Silhouette Store
The sentiment is also from the same file
which I printed and used my fiskars oval punch to cut out.
I tied some Trendy Twine around the top and added a simple black button.
Some white gel pen doodles and some Gathered Twig Distress Ink and I have my card.
I thought this would be a great one to give with a gift of cookies in a jar maybe?!?!?

Now make sure you check out the rest of the DT's projects and comment here (because I love to read them) and over at
for your chance to win some files.

Speaking of winning some files I have a winner to announce from the
Embossing Hop!!
The lucky winner of any 3 files from
The Cutting Cafe

Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop~ Day 2

Welcome to the Bunnies and Blossoms Banner Hop for Special Needs Children.

Yesterday and today (March 24-25), 30+fantastic papercrafters have come together to create Spring-themed banners. They will then donate these banners to Ellen (CardMonkey), who works as an Admissions Coordinator at Pediatric Specialty Care (PSC), www.pediatricspecialty.com.

PSC is a long-term care facility for special needs children who are medically-fragile and/or technologically-dependent. The babies, children and youths at PSC range in age from birth to 21, and are admitted from all over the country.
Some are infants, born prematurely and before their lungs have had a chance to mature. Others have serious birth defects, illnesses or injuries from accidents that cause them to need tender loving care in a home-like environment -- many for their lifetimes.

Our banners are meant to cheer the young patients, their families, and the staff at PSC. Here is the banner that I made and will be sending to Ellen to decorate a child's room:

I Love U ~ The Cutting Cafe DT Day

Good Morning Everyone!!
This week Regina asked The Cutting Cafe DT to showcase
some awesome Valentine's Day sets...
or

I chose to use the background images from Feb 14 and Fun With Valentine's Day
and here is what I came up with......
When I started my card....I had something completely different in mind.
Now that I have it completed I LOVE the way this one turned out!!
My card base is Kraft card stock A2 size
Designer paper is from My Minds Eye~ Love Me
I used the 2 files from The Cutting Cafe~ re sized them and printed them on Kraft card stock
To all the edges I used my Tim Holtz Distresser
and Gathered Twigs Distress Ink
The "I" and "U" are Tim Holtz Grunge Board Letters that I inked also with Gathered Twigs and Fired Brick Distress Ink
The heart in the middle was cut using George and Basic Shapes Cartridge
I stamped it using My Creative Time~100% Sweetness heart stamp....LOVE It!
That too was inked using Fired Brick

So I hope you like my Valentine's Day card?!?

Whimsical Wednesday Guest Designer :)

I am so excited that Stephanie over at Always Crafting has asked me to be a guest designer for this week's Whimsical Wednesday Challenge. Being so new to the blogging world her blog was one of the first I began following. Her work is truly amazing so go and check out all the wonderful and creative projects she has to share.!
This week she is calling it "I'm So Stressed Out!" I know we all have those kind of days....right?!?! For this challenge she wants any type of project but it has to include some distressing in it. This can include but is not limited to inking, tearing paper or whatever other kind of distressing technique you want to use. I have not tried any of these yet so I blog searched for ideas, googled distressing and everything came back to the ever famous Tim Holtz! Again I had not one item of his so off to Michael's I went (just an excuse to scrapbook shop) for some distressing ink. I came home with the ink as well as some paper stash in Retro Grunge. I knew I wanted to make something other than a card or layout and I had an Altoids container waiting to be altered so this is my "I'm So Stressed Out" project.
I used the paper and covered the front, back, sides and inside..distressing the edges with Vintage Photo, Frayed Burlap and Peeled Paint Distress ink. I also tore a piece of paper, crumpled it and then layed it flat and inked. We just recently got a new phone book and it wass sitting in our recycle bin..does anyone use a phone book anymore?!...I took out a page of the white pages and cut 3 flowers at 2" from the Pagoda Cartridge. I crumpled them up, inked the edges and used my hot glue gun to attach to the tin. The pewter tiles are Making Memories alphabet charm that I hot glued also and inked as well. The butterfly was a charm I had in my stash.

So now it is your turn! Head over to Always Crafting and show us how you can distress. I can't wait to see what you come up with! I think distressing is my new favorite :)! You will also want to stop and visit Margie at Bella Bug Creations for some more inspiration. She has an amazing blog as well!

Thanks for stopping by and I would LOVE it if you become a follower here at  Chick-n-scrap :)
Until tomorrow....
