I actually have an early post today... Here is my entry into  Cricut Cardz Challenge #59- Child's Valentine's.
I love spongebob and so do my boys so when I was looking through the booklet this cut won my heart. Perfect for telling the boys I love them :)!
Spongebob was cut at 5" and the sentiment is actually from Simply Sweet..the "you" is the bottom half of the thank you, also cut at 5"

Shrinky Dinks

I bought a package of Shrinky Dinks today at Michael's and they are so easy to work with. I wanted to try and make charms for my son's Valentines's treats. They worked and the boys had so much fun watching them bake.
So I cut a heart out at 3" from Plantin Schoolbook and my son wrote everyone's name on them. I then put the decorated touch around the outside. In the oven at 325 for 1-3 minutes (ours took 3) and this is how they turn out! I can't wait to try something else.
I used my gypsy and had to cut the plastic out 2 times but the hole was already there because I used the charm cut.
I have already made the sour cream containers, filled them with candy hearts and now to attach the charm to the container. That is where I am now. So the completed project will be posted tomorrow.

Chipboard Memory Book

front cover

So a very good friend of mine's birthday is today...Happy Birthday Chris!! And for her birthday I wanted to make something nice that she would be able to use. I tried my hand at a Chipboard Memory Book and I think it actually came out really nice for being my first time.
I gave her the book today and I'm hoping she is going to fill it with pictures of her family!

So on to a different note...I took on a VERY big project yesterday, to make 90 post it note holders for our school's Staff Appreciation Luncheon on February 9th. I wrote in my earlier post how easy they are to do....right...well I started thinking I need all the time I possibly can to get them done. And you know what???
I already have 24 95% done. I am making them very simple with a base color, pattern top layer, a thank you sentiment and maybe a bling but that is all. I will post pictures when they are all done.

So this is a quick post for today..I added to the Mickey birthday card and gift bag. My son's friend who is having a party tonight is going to Disney for the 1st time in March. Since he just celebrated his birthday right before Christmas he had already gotten everything! What do you get for an 8 year old?....Got it Disney dollars so he can buy what he wants in the parks and trading pins because anyone who has every been to Disney knows how much fun trading pins can be! If you havent traded pins at Disney let me know and I will fill you in :)
With that said I made a smaller gift bag for the pins and a money holder for the dollars....Hope he likes it!

Post-it Note Holder's

I know I posted already today but here is the project for the day. I have been watching many you-tube videos for ideas and tips and I LOVE this project. It is so super easy...I had a blast making them and I want to make more...and more...and more. I'm not sure I know that many people that need post-it notes :)
Anyways I was at Target and in their $1.00 bin is a 6pk of gel markers. The post it notes I got were a 4 pack of purple, green, pink and blue. All the colors of the gel pens. The pack also came with a gold and yellow that my boys have snatched.
So guess what..I am going back to Target tomorrow to stock up on these pens and make more.
These are actually going to the boys school for teacher gifts...Appreciation for all they do on a daily basis. I know they will LOVE them.

cardstock dimensions--7 3/8 x 3 1/4 then score at 3 1/8, 3 1/2 and 3 7/8

This is the youtube video I got the measurements for the post-it note holder from.

Stuck on a Star

Happy Wednesday...hump day :)!
Only 2 more days till the weekend and what a weekend my family has planned...birthday party and basketball games.
Here is the card I made today and I made it for
The Paper Variety- Friendship Challenge.
This is the challenge:
Use the following quote (or another favorite) as the "theme" of your card, layout or other paper art.
Good friends are like stars….
You don’t always
see them, but you know  they are  Always there
This is the card that I came up with. I am actually going to send this to a really good friend of mine...I hope she likes it!
This card for some reason took me a lot longer to make...my mind and the way I wanted it to look weren't matching. Finally after making a complete mess of my space and working with the layout over and over again I got it to work. Again not what I originally pictured but hey I think it came out pretty good.

cupcake birthday

Hi everyone...here is my post for today.
I made a birthday card for a friend today and I made it with my gypsy. What a cool gadget! The more I play with it the more I find out how cool it is and all the neat things it can do :)
So I went into our local Hobby Lobby today....my first time going...I didn't even know we had one...I usually shop at Michaels and ACMoore and was quite impressed with the assortment of scrapbooking items they had. Many different things than Michaels and ACMoore. I got the cupcake paper there and thought it would work perfectly with my mental picture of what I wanted to make.
How come when I have a mental picture of my card...I go to make it..and it never comes out how I originally pictured? It usually comes out better :) Does that happen to any of you?
How do you design your layout or cards? Draw it out? Cut pieces and play with the layout that way? Please let me know...I would love to know...I am currently struggling with this and any ideas would be greatly appreciated.
The angle of my card and the way my camera took the picture makes my card look cockeyed...its not :)

Valentines for the kiddo's

So I am getting a head start this year and making the kids Valentine's. I thought if I started now I would have plenty of time for making, filling and labeling them. I was truely surprised at how long it actually took me to make and put these together.
I made the pillow box with the Wedding Cartridge and also cut the scalloped hearts from that cartridge. I inked with a bic marker around the red hearts and attached them to my pillow boxes. I found a $1.00 "happy valentines day" stamp at Michaels and used that to stamp all the boxes. We wrote to: each child's name and on the back wrote from: my boys. I really like the way they came out and I know the kids will also. Oh and by the way 2 pieces of candy fit in the pillow...a spongebob lick n stick and a package of conversation hearts. Even better!

And this is what I made for the teachers. I think this came out so super cute!! I cut the heart box from tags, bags, boxes and more and used my gypsy to cut the heart out. I filled this with chocolate nuggets that I covered in matching paper. I know the teachers will LOVE this!!

Box entered at Scrappy Mom's Stamps- Terrific Tuesday Challenge Sweethearts.

I love this cool and cute snowman from the Christmas Cards seasonal collection. This also happened to be one of the first cartridges I got and being so new to owning a cricut I wasn't quite sure what to do with it so it sat forgotten.

I just made this for Claudia & Company: Challange #70-Shape It UP!
The challange was to create something without using squares and rectangles. Thought this was a cute cut!
I cute this using my paisley cartridge.

Drinks on Me

So my husband took me out to dinner on Friday night and I had the most yummy martini- A Lemon Drop. I have had them many times at this restaurant but for whatever reason the one I had on Friday was the best! My inspiration for today's card. I hope you like it :)
So for my bargain of the day...Michael's has been running a clearance sale on cricut cartridges for $9.99. Needless to say I have spent not alot of money to add to my library but for that price how could you go wrong. Today I happened to go into Michael's and they put new cartridges on Clearance....Nursery Rhymes and Preserves. I haven't decided what I will create with them but I couldn't pass them up.

What do you think about the card I made today for The Pink Stamper's Blog Hop. Since I have only boys, anything that I can make with Pink I LOVE!! I think there is another pink challenge out there too...maybe you will see this there also. I found it, The Paper Variety. It is up there also.
This makes me think about spring and since it keeps snowing here anything that brings spring into the room is a GREAT thing.

After following Capadia Designs- Diane,  for the past week as a guest designer on Everyday Cricut I was motivated to step away from just the the cricut and try designing, welding and cutting with the gypsy. I used her basic idea and cut a rectangle with two welded hearts on either side. I did decorate alittle and I mean alittle, just to get an idea and I think I am going to make these for my older son's valentines. They are really easy and he can put a note on the front and candy inside the little bag that is attached in there.

So here is the inspiration for my card today. To make a long story short I received a gift card to one of the nicest boutique stores in my area The Perfect Gift/ Get Heeled. Both stores being owned by a wonderfully sweet lady with a GREAT sense of style. So I usually go into the store when they have their Vera sales/new pattern releases, or when I need the "perfect gift". I went into the store looking for a new purse but totally fell in love with these shoes. Now since you dont know me or my style...I am a jeans, sweatshirt/sweatpants girl..love to dress up but do so very infrequently so my dress-up clothes lack. When I told my husband about these "so not me" but totally cute shoes he told me to get them. One of the ladies in the store said get them and wear them with jeans and a sweater. My girlfriend said get them..who cares if they aren't your style they will be fun to wear even if just once. So I got them! My husband is taking me out for dinner tomorrow and I'm wearing my new "so not me" shoes. :)

Mickey Mouse Birthday Card

So today I made a birthday card for one of my son's friends. He just found out they were going to Disney for vacation so I thought this would be a fun card to send. And who can resist the mouse? Not me for sure. I LOVE Mickey Mouse and Disney so here is to Daniel-- Happy 8th Birthday!
Oh yeah forgot to add that this was one of my $9.99 value cartridges...Simply Sweet. And how sweet it is. So many cute and cool options! I love it!

Monday, January 10, 2011

I actually have a few pictures to post tonight. I need to make Valentines for my kids class and was so excited when I found the pillow box cut on the Wedding Cartridge. So after playing around with the size I came up with a 5 1/2 inch cut which will be perfect for 2 small bags of candy. I will be able to whip these up in no time.
Super bargin today at Michaels!! The jukebox which is regularly 99$ was on clearance today for $9.99...Yeah!! I was so excited about that and after they just ran a clearance on cartridges for $9.99. They made out well from me..I was able to pick up 7 cartridges. That is the price for just one. So happy!

Sunday, January 9, 2011

So today I was inspired to create a card based on a picture I took from my window. The cardinal just looked so peaceful and beautiful. Here is what I came up with. I think it came out pretty good!
After trying to get my cricut to cut the tree (from Stretch your Imagination) without pulling up the paper I was finally able to get it to work. I cut the tree at 5 1/2 and tada...this is what I got. The red bird actually was cut from the Pagoda Cartridge and that was cut at 1/2 inch. Not a cardinal but the effect was there.
