Good Morning everyone and welcome to another "Trending Now" with My Creative Time!!
Today we are focusing on "Stencil it" techniques using My Creative Time dies to make our own stencils! Then using those stencils to make backgrounds, focal points, etc.....
For my card today, I actually made it for a friend of my son who is having a birthday this weekend. I wanted my card to be fun and interactive as well as colorful and not too childish. I am pretty sure I accomplished all of the above and even received the thumbs up from my son too :)
This card was so fun to create and can be mass produced quite easily. The best thing about this, besides the fun star pattern, is now that I have the stencil made, I can reuse it tons more! So this is how I made my card.....
I took a piece of clear acetate that I picked up at the office supply store and I cut it down to a 5x6 size. The reason for the larger than card base size, is so I could lay it over the card mat and have a place to tape it down without taping on my card mat and running the risk of ripping the cardstock.
Next I laid out the star pattern I wanted and ran it through my big shot. I did the pattern 2 more times to fill in the whole sheet of acetate.
Next I laid the stencil onto my card mat and using my ink daubers, added my color to each of the stars. Once all my stars were colored in, I carefully removed my stencil~ cleaning off the ink so I could save it for another project, and I was left with some beautifully inked stars.
Then for my sentiment, I used the die cut from the Tag Die Layers set, remembering to save the insides of the letters. I added a scrap piece of acetate to the backside of the cardstock and then filled the window with some silver star sequins. Once I had the card mat placed onto my black card base, I took those letter pieces to fill in the sentiment. Some more randomly placed star sequins onto the front of the card and my birthday card was complete!

Nice job on the Birthday card. The stars do make a great stencil...pretty sure I will try the stars. I did a stencil last month using the hearts and an acetate window I salvaged off of some packaging. Great idea adding a shaker with the sentiment die...love the star sequins. Wonderful job.
