Scrapping The Little Things x2.....{MCT Project Life}

Good Morning everyone!!
This is my first "Scrapping the Little Things" post for My Creative Time
where we are sharing Project Life, Smash book or Scrapbook LO's.
I wanted to jump on the PL bandwagon and hopefully get myself motivated to do something with all the pictures I take of my kiddos :)

Here is a little background to this page and the pictures.....
Christmas time here was crazy to say the least....that is weather wise.
Right before Christmas we had a HUGE snowstorm where we got almost 2 feet of snow. While it was beautiful and the kids had fun playing in it, what came after was not fun!
We had a very nice temp warm~up..... but what comes with a warm~up is melting snow.
We live about 100 yards from a very large creek....can you see where this is going???
The snow was melting, the creek was rising and YUP we were flooding. We were on our own little island. The water was completely surrounding our house and the end of the driveway was under 2 feet of water. There was no way we could leave the house...not only because of the water at the end of our driveway but because our street was under water as well as all the surrounding streets. Then to make matters worse, it snowed again...LOL
These are the pictures from after the second round of snow....Look at all that water

So you all probably know we own chickens....If not now you do :)
We currently have 4 hens and well here is their coop during the flooding.
Mind you their "home" is sitting up 2 feet from the ground, but with all the water we had, it came up to their doorway to their box. So we did a rescue of them and brought them up to our front porch. Yup at 9 pm the night that the water was rising, my husband went into the foot of freezing water to bring them out one by one. I was on the chicken receiving end and carried them up onto the porch.
LOL....here they are the next morning. Totally confused as to why they were there and then upset that it was now snowing. So they were then moved into the garage. Let me back up a sec and explain why they were moved to the porch. We figured they could free range during the day in the yard where there wasn't water and then be high and dry at night. That did not happen :(  With it snowing again we decided to move them again where they would be confined, warmer and stay out of the crazy elements.

Now to move onto my PL page. After the water went down, we had some bitter cold weather. This lead to 2 days of school being cancelled, but also on the flip side, lead to all that remaining water on the side of the house to freeze. So we took advantage of it and made our own ice rink!

When my hubs and the boys went out to play hockey (without skates too) I grabbed my camera and took these pictures
These are the insert cards I made to match the pictures. I left the tags blank for now (cause I do not like my handwriting) but will print out the wording and attach them to the tags.
I used alot of MCT stamps and dies for these tags. All the products will be listed and linked down below. I also embellished with some Totally Sky Trendy Twine, burlap ribbon and some staples to attach the ribbon. The designer paper I used for the cards are all from Carta Bella~Rough and Tumble. LOVE this paper!!!

You have stuck with me and my super LONG, picture heavy post so far that I have one more PL page I made. This is the one I used for my DT call for MCT that I did not get a chance to share yet.
I took pictures every week for my son's football season with the hope to put together a book for him. Again this series that Emma does is SO going to get my butt in action to complete it for him before the next season begins...LOL!!
Here are the cards I made...again I will link up all the MCT products I used below.

Emma's journal dies and all her stamps make putting these cards together a breeze! Now I just have to work on taking the pictures of them and getting them to look a little better.

Casey plays football for the Clarence Bulldogs and I was able to get the awesome Annie over at SVG Cutting Files to design the logo for me.  How cool is that??
And if you didnt notice he is number 30 and the team's center. He also plays on the line but his heart and soul is in snapping that ball to the quarterback :)

MCT Products Used:
Stitched Journal Die
Just Simply Live
Type Calendar
Touchdown Stamp Set
Sports Sentiment Stamp Set
Journal It Stamp Set

WOWZERS that was a long post! Thanks so much for sticking around for it all!
Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the DT made!
I know the inspiration is AWESOME!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a GREAT Monday!!!

  2. You are one strong person to be able to handle that experience!!! That was definitely a story and had me on the edge of my seat! I guess that's why I'm in FL, I don't do snow! We've gotten snow flurries and that was exciting enough for me, Lol! I love that you took a frustrating experience and made it fun for your kids! The chickens even had an adventure to talk about, lol! It sure made for a fantastic memory to Scrapbook about as your layout is wonderful! Really neat that Annie made your son's team logo!! It looks great on your layout! And I really love all of Emma's products as well on your layouts! They look terrific!!

  18. Not a 'long' post at all, Jessica - rather a delightful, engaging one! Snow and water - yuck (I live in Canmore where we had the mega floods last June...eeeeewww). Despite your chickens being confused, I'm sure some part of them appreciated the 'rescue and relocation' plans. Your layouts/pages are fabulous: you've captured memories and transformed them into keepsakes to be treasured. Wonderful inspiration!

  28. Oh My Gosh!!! Poor chickens!!! Brought to mind a camping trip with the Girls Scouts my husband and I did once where we were caught in a torrential down pour. Our campground flooded and my husband had to carry the girls one by one to our van. Took them all home to our house, got the dry and warm and had a big sleepover in my living room.
Anyway.... your layouts are both super adorable!!!! Love them :)
