MCT Scrapping The Little Things.....{Happy 14th Birthday}

Good Morning and Happy Monday everyone!
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!

It is time for another "Scrapping the Little Things" with My Creative Time
where we share Project Life, Smash book or Scrapbook LO's using MCT stamps and dies!
For today's LO I grabbed one of my favorite pictures of my son from his birthday in February and made a smash page with it.
Alittle background on the picture. He and a few of his friends are really big into playing Airsoft. If you are unfamiliar with Airsoft and how it is played, it is similar to paintball except the boys use mini plastic bb's instead of paint balls. They go to an indoor playing field where teams are formed and different games are played. I am sure you are wondering if it hurts when they get shot and the answer is yes. The dress for these games range from regular street clothes to full out camo gear (which you can kinda tell in the picture is what my son wears) They also as a safety requirement, make everyone who is playing wear goggles and a face mask.
So for his 14th birthday he took 7 of his buddies up to play for the night. I usually don't go and watch but since it was his birthday I did and he promised me I could snap some pictures :) I was able to grab this one as he was gearing up for the first round of the night!
I wanted to keep my page pretty simple making the picture of Casey my focal point. I pulled colors from the picture to use as my theme as well as using several MCT stamps and dies.
For starters, I used the Bunch of Fun Circle Dies to make some random circles up the border of my page. Then using the numbers from the Stitched 4x6 Journal Die set, I die cut the 14 for his age. For the birthday sentiment, I used the Stitched Decorative Banners and the stamp from the Wow So Many Candles. Finally I wanted to add some additional details to the page without overcrowding it to much so when I saw the window stamps from the Main Street stamp set, I thought that would give the extra color I wanted as well as the extra details. There was no set pattern to how I stamped it and I ended up blending ink colors to match my color theme. I am happy with the way this LO turned out :)
One last added detail~ some Trendy Twine tied in a bow and my project is all complete!

It's Time for Another Whimsical Wednesday Challenge

It is that time again....A new Challenge over at Whimsical Wednesday.
This weeks challenge is to make a Birthday LO with any kind of Embossing.

My nephew is turning 1 in July and he just LOVES monkeys.
This 12 x 12 LO was made just for him and once he has his birthday I will put the pictures in and give it to my sister.

So I used paper from Recollection-I believe-It came from Michael's and was purchased a while ago for this purpose..to make something cute for my little nephew.

I punched 2" circles and used 1 of my favorite tools..the cuttlebug to emboss each circle with the herringbone folder. They were all inked with coffee bean pigment ink.
On another of my shopping quests I found Tim Holtz grunge board letters on clearance. They came in handy for this. I inked them all with fire brick, frayed burlap and vintage photo. It really brought out the embossed stripes that were already on them.
They were placed on foam dots for extra dimensions.
I put 2 photo mats on this. Both are 4 x6 mats and both were embossed with the Swiss dots folder.
The monkey was a svg file I recently found and he just seemed to fit so nicely in this space.

I am really happy with the way this LO turned out. I hope my sister likes it also!

So now that you have seen my project, make sure you head over to the Whimsical Wednesday blog to see the other DT's projects and to link your birthday LO.
Good Luck and thanks for stopping by. Hope you play along with us this week.
Remember you have 2 full weeks to participate :)
