MCT Tutorial Thursday.....{Making Your Own Stencils using Dies}

Good Morning everyone and welcome to a new feature on the My Creative Time blog!
This one is Tutorial Thursday~ where the DT will share video or written tutorials using MCT stamps and dies!
Remember this card I made for the "Trending Now~Stencil it" post? Well I had some questions regarding how I made my stencil so I thought I would share a very easy written tutorial and another card using a homemade stencil.
Here is the new card I made using some of the newest releases......
Gold is HOT right now and I just LOVE the new sentiment from the You're My Hero Stamp set so I made a new stencil using 2 of the new star dies and did some heat embossing too.
Here is how I did this...
I start out with a piece of acetate that I get at the Office Supply store. I actually go to the copy department and buy the sheets individually, they maybe cost $0.20 each...really cheap. I cut a piece down to about 5 1/2 x 6 1/2 so it can easily be placed over a standard A2 size card. Next I pulled out 2 of the new Bunch of Stitched Stars dies and arranged them onto my acetate. Making no specific pattern I die cut the stars and repeat until I get the pattern I want.

Here you can see my acetate laying on top of my card mat. Since the mat is the smallest of the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies, you can see that the stencil lays over the actual cardstock. That is fine, I can save this stencil and use it over and over again :) Next I taped the stencil down over my cardstock to begin the inking and embossing part. Using my Versamark ink I tapped it on top of the stencil making sure to really cover the entire open stencil part. Since the ink will rub of the stencil I didnt worry about ruining that...I just wanted the best coverage for my embossing. Next I pulled the stencil off and covered the cardstock with some gold embossing powder. Heated it up and I have a beautiful embossed background using MCT dies!

Next for the sentiment, I used the circle cut out from the Surprise Pop-Out Card Die to stamp my sentiment onto. Now for this part I have had some questions about this too...adding thread to cards. Here is what the backside of my thread nest looks like. Nothing pretty but flip it over and it adds so much added details to a card :)

Additional Products Used:

So what did you think of my card?
You should really go through all your MCT dies and make some of your own stencils. The possibilities are endless and oh so much fun!!!

Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the DT made!
I know the inspiration is AWESOME!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a GREAT Thursday!!!

World's Greatest Mom...{Trendy Twine DT}

Good Morning everyone!!
It is my day to post to the Trendy Twine blog!!

All month the DT has been showcasing one of our gorgeous twine colors along with a packaging item.  This month the Trendy Gals are spotlighting our gorgeous Tickled Pink Trendy Twine and I get to showcase a FUN new packaging just recently added to the store~ Mini Cups

Today I have another  Mother's Day project to share!
I was so excited when Lesley said she was adding these Mini Cups to the store! I have seen such ADORABLE projects using them and couldn't wait to play with them myself :)
I found this beautiful designer paper from Lilybeedesign that I used to wrap my mini cup in.  The colors look so pretty with the Tickled Pink Trendy Twine!

Then using some kraft cardstock I made a cup sleeve for my mini cup that doubles as a place to adhere my sentiment. Finally I wrapped some Tickled Pink Trendy Twine around the cup's lid and tied it in a simple bow. Filled with some chocolates or even a K-cup and this would make a GREAT gift!!!!

Here are the products I used from Annie's Paper Boutique:

MCT What a Treat Wednesday.....{You're my superstar}

Good Morning everyone!!!
It is time for another one of my FAVORITE days over at My Creative Time~
What a Treat Wednesday!
I am sure you are all familiar with this day but if you are not it is where the MCT DT makes a treat using of course the awesome MCT stamps and dies!!!
While at the grocery store, I found these adorable baseball gumballs. Since it was opening day for my son's travel baseball team I thought they would be fun to give to the boys. So I grabbed a few and of course forgot to bring them to the game. BUT I did know that there was an upcoming What a Treat Wednesday post that these would be perfect for.
So I took that adorable Short Candy Chute from Trendy Twine and was able to place 3 gumballs in it. I wrapped some designer paper around the center and then pulled out the newly released You're My Hero and Bunch of Stitched Stars from MCT (dont forget that there is an awesome sale still going on until this Friday..all the details can be found HERE)
I stamped the sentiment onto matching designer paper and placed it aside while I die cut my stars. Now it was time to put this all together. I wrapped some of my favorite Trendy Twine~Stars and Stripes around the box and then tied it in a knot. Next I layered the sentiment onto the top of the larger star and placed the smaller star onto the top. I added a small hole where I then threaded the knotted TT through to tie it into a bow.

Well that is my treat. A fun way to decorate a cute little box with of course my favorite MCT products!! This came together so fast and they would make awesome party favors~don't you think????

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a GREAT hump day!!!!!!

Before you head out I have a little bragging to do:)
Here is my superstar~ my youngest Parker
He is so proud of his new big barrel bat he got for Christmas and didn't want to use it until his fist game of the season!

He just LOVES to catch and is very good at it as well. He sure took a beating at this game but there is no place he rather be!

Parker was our opening pitcher on Sunday. Love seeing him up on the mound but OMG the anxiety gets to be too much sometimes :)

And here is Parker's team. They are 11U and a very young team, but with lots of hard work they should have a good season! Oh by the way...what do you think of their jerseys??? I am proud to say that they were all done ME :) Looking good boys!

MCT 42nd New Release Blog Hop!

Good Morning

Welcome to the much anticipated
42nd New Release from My Creative Time!
This week has been so much fun with the DT sharing amazing projects and inspiration! But we have one more day of AWESOME~NESS!

but if you are just stopping in, make sure to head back to the start~ the AMAZING
You are not going to want to miss a thing! She really ROCKED this release (well she always does, doesn't she?? Of course!!)

I am so excited about this release!!! All the new stamps and dies are just AWESOME!! So for my project today I get to showcase the fun new Bunch of Stitched Stars dies and the You're My Hero stamp set. Since graduation season is fast approaching, I thought I would share a quick and easy graduation gift (this one happens to be for my son who will be graduating 8th grade and moving into the High School next year~YIKES!!!
I LOVE pairing up Miss Emma's older products with new releases! Here I used the MUST have Embossed Gift Card Holder and heat embossed the sentiment from the new release~You're My Hero. Then using one of the new Bunch of Stitched Star dies, I layered it onto the front of my gift card. Since it is a graduation card, I added the adorable graduation cap popped up onto the center of the star. Some Wink of Stella glitter on the star (which I am sorry you can't see the sparkle) and my gift card is done!

My Creative Time Products Used:
Bunch of Stitched Stars (New Release)
You're My Hero (New Release)

For my next project I made a matching lollipop holder. Another MUST have party die for your stash!!!
I started by die cutting the Stitched Lollipop Holder in black cardstock. I then die cut one of the larger stars in the designer paper. To get the cut out in the lollipop holder, I placed the pattern paper star over the lollipop holder and then using a smaller star die cut though all the layers.  I placed my yummy Original Gourmet Lollipop into the holder and then tied it closed with some Totally White Trendy Twine. To finish off my holder, I used the tag die from last month's release~ Fun Stitched Tag Dies and stamped the sentiment onto the tag. I popped it up over the star and my project was complete!!

Good Morning and welcome to Day 4 of sneaks for the new
My Creative Time 42nd New Release!
Today is the last day of sneaks before tomorrow's BIG reveal and Blog Hop!!!!!

So for our final day the DT is showcasing ..
Thanks for the Lift and the freebie stamp set Enjoy the Little Things
I thought I would get a jump start and make a birthday card for my nephew. I just can not get over how ADORABLE that chubby plane is!!!!!!
I matched up the new Thanks for the Lift set with several older MCT dies to put this together. I started with a kraft card base and added a layer of white cardstock topped with a piece of designer paper die cut using the Stitched Rectangular Frame Die. Next I used that same die to make 2 smaller panels, one in kraft and the other in the brown polka dot designer paper. Using the next to smallest Bunch of Fun Circle Die and the circle from the Scallop & Stitched Circle set along with the number 5 from the Stitched 4x6 Journal Die set, I made my birthday embellishment!
Moving up to that adorable chubby plane and sentiment flag, I used the new Thanks for the Lift stamp and die set to paper piece that cutie! I ended up popping the plane and sentiment up using some fun foam and placing it on a larger Bunch of fun Circle Die.
To finish my card off, I added some Totally Blue Trendy Twine and some random enamel dots!

I just know you are going to LOVE today's inspiration as well!!
Here is what the DT is showcasing today..
Fun Stitched Clouds & the Sky is the Limit
Here is the card I made for today....
I wanted to keep my card on the simple side to showcase the awesome new stamps and dies!!! I used all my designer paper from MME~My Girl paper pad. My goal was to make the balloon look like it was going from the sky into outer space...LOL. I tried to achieve this by using the blue designer paper and then moving upward to the star paper. Thoughts????
I added lots of dimension to my card by popping up my balloon as well as the clouds.
The fun thing about those new cloud dies~ I used some fun foam to cut them out and they have a nice soft and fluffy feel to them.

Good Morning and welcome to Day 2 of sneaks for the new
My Creative Time 42nd New Release!
What did you think of yesterday's sneaks??? Pretty AWESOME right!!!! Well we have more to share!!!!

Today the DT will be showcasing projects using the new set~
Believe in Your Dreams
For my project I made a post~it note holder.
Our AWESOME DT leader and super talented stamp and die creator Miss Emma made one of these that you can see HERE. You may also remember my DT sis Lucia making one as well. You can see her's HERE
I followed the directions to make this using some beautiful designer paper from my stash. Then before putting the front pocket together, I stamped the sentiment using the new Believe in Your Dreams set. I added that cute little heart as well, glittering it up with some Wink of Stella and some glossy accents.
Don't you just LOVE the new feather stamp and die?? I am so super excited Emma added this to her product line :) I stamped the feather onto some cork paper and then die cut it out using the matching die! I added a small "scribble" line under the feather using the You Are Fabulous stamp set and finished it off with some yellow hemp twine.
I just LOVE the way this turned out and think these would make AWESOME teacher appreciation gifts!

MCT 42nd New Release Sneak Day 1

Good Morning and welcome to Day 1 of sneaks for the new
My Creative Time 42nd New Release!
Miss Emma has another AMAZING new release and the DT can not wait to share all of our projects with you! We all know you are going to LOVE everything in this release.
So sit back and get ready for a GREAT week of inspiration followed by our blog hop on Friday when we will show you all the entire new release and it will be available for purchase!

Today the DT will be showcasing projects using the new set~
You’re My Hero & Bunch of Stitched Stars
I just recently watched a cool new technique (well new to me) that Jennifer McGuire posted HERE called Spotlight Die Cutting so I had to give it a try using today's new stamps and dies!!! I first stamped the sentiment from the new You're My Hero stamp set onto my designer paper and then stamped the same sentiment onto the new Bunch of Stitched Stars die. To make sure the stamped sentiment lined up perfectly where I wanted it placed on the star die I used my MISTI (it is a MUST have!) To get the popped up look, I added some fun foam to the back of the star die cut but before adding it to my card mat, I wrapped some red thread into a nest to add to the backside of the die cut. I love the fun extra texture it gives my card, don't you? To then finish my card off, I added some red and blue sequins.

Trending Now...."Stencil it" {Happy B-day w/MCT}

Good Morning everyone and welcome to another "Trending Now" with My Creative Time!!
Today we are focusing on "Stencil it" techniques using My Creative Time dies to make our own stencils! Then using those stencils to make backgrounds, focal points, etc.....

For my card today, I actually made it for a friend of my son who is having a birthday this weekend. I wanted my card to be fun and interactive as well as colorful and not too childish. I am pretty sure I accomplished all of the above and even received the thumbs up from my son too :)
This card was so fun to create and can be mass produced quite easily. The best thing about this, besides the fun star pattern, is now that I have the stencil made, I can reuse it tons more! So this is how I made my card.....
I took a piece of clear acetate that I picked up at the office supply store and I cut it down to a 5x6 size. The reason for the larger than card base size, is so I could lay it over the card mat and have a place to tape it down without taping on my card mat and running the risk of ripping the cardstock.
Next I laid out the star pattern I wanted and ran it through my big shot. I did the pattern 2 more times to fill in the whole sheet of acetate.
Next I laid the stencil onto my card mat and using my ink daubers, added my color to each of the stars. Once all my stars were colored in, I carefully removed my stencil~ cleaning off the ink so I could save it for another project, and I was left with some beautifully inked stars.
Then for my sentiment, I used the die cut from the Tag Die Layers set, remembering to save the insides of the letters. I added a scrap piece of acetate to the backside of the cardstock and then filled the window with some silver star sequins. Once I had the card mat placed onto my black card base, I took those letter pieces to fill in the sentiment. Some more randomly placed star sequins onto the front of the card and my birthday card was complete!

My Creative Time Products Used:

Other Products Used:
Ranger Die Inks~Classic Cherry, Lemon Twist, Lily Pad and Blue Ribbon
Ink Daubers
silver star sequins
acetate
fun foam
white & black cardstock

So what did you think of my card?
You should really go through all your MCT dies and make some of your own stencils. The possibilities are endless and oh so much fun!!!

Make sure you head on over to My Creative Time to see what the rest of the DT made!
I know the inspiration is AWESOME!!!!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a GREAT Thursday!!!

Also don't forget about the newest release coming up!! All the fun starts this Monday!!!!
You are going to LOVE LOVE LOVE this new release!!!!!
